Official Rules

By clicking on VirtualPursuit on your PADD, you agree to the following Official Rules for the Vir-ConVirtual Pursuit Contest (“Contest”). If you do not agree to the Official Rules, you may not play.

I. Eligibility.

You must be 18 years of ageor older as of August 1, 2002. Employees, directors, officers and agents ofvirtual-conventions, llc, Why Communications, Paramount Pictures Corporation,and their respective parents, sisters, subsidiaries and affiliates, and anyother person or entity directly associated with this Contest (collectively,“Sponsor”), and all immediate family members and/or persons living in the samehouseholds as such persons, are not eligible. This Contest of skill is voidwhere restricted or prohibited.

II. Virtual PursuitContest.

1. Virtual Pursuit Contest will be played throughout thevirtual convention August 2-4, 2002 during the “Contest Period” by allattendees with General Admission, Preferred or Latinum passes. Free or paid Star Trek Mall pass holders may not participate.

2. Players must search, find and click on objectsthroughout the Vir-Con virtual convention center and it’s surroundingenvironment. The sixty-four (64)objects can be found anywhere, both in plain view and hidden inside otherobjects or spaces. There is averified way to find and click on every object. The player will receive a dateand time stamp, which is updated each time an object, is found and based on theserver clock and measured to one millisecond. There is no disputing the official clock for anyreason. This Contest of skill isvoid where restricted or prohibited.

3. Each object has an assigned experience pointvalue. The total amount of experience points is 1,701,000. The player with the most experience points found in the fastest time base based the date/time stamp shall be the winner. Other winners shall be determined by the next highest experience points and next fastest date/time stamp.

III. How To Play.

1. Step 1: The first time you click on VirtualPursuit you can read the Instructions and indicate your acceptance of theOfficial Rules and then click on Start to activate your Virtual Pursuitcounter.

Step 2: Click on objects and characters to add to your experiencepoints. You can check you currentexperience point total by right-clicking on your screen name in the Nicknamelist and selecting Member Profile.

Step3: Click on Virtual Pursuiton your PADD to review standings.

2. Contest. Participate beginning 10:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time (PST) August 2,2002 until 2:00 p.m. PST on August 4, 2002 (“Contest Period”).

3. Other Entry Information. Entries will be deemed madeby the authorized account holder logged into Vir-Con based on compliance withthe rules. The authorized accountholder is deemed to be the natural person who has activated his/her account atwww.vir-con.net. Sponsor assumesno responsibility for lost, late, mis-delivered, mis-directed or incompleteentries, or for any computer, online or technical malfunctions that may occur.Only one person may enter per eachauthorized e-mail account.

IV. Winner Notification.

Winnerswill be notified by email or by phone at the Sponsor’s discretion on or aboutAugust 10, 2002, unless later selected as an alternate winner. Winners will be requested to confirmreceipt of notification within two business days of notice via email to anemail address that will be supplied in the notification of winning, or theywill be disqualified, and alternate winner will be selected from the next highestplayer not already chosen as a winner.

V. Prizes.

One (1) first prize winner will each receive official Star Trek merchandise of approximate retail value: $250. See Quick Help from the Vir-Con2002 home page or your PADD for a complete listing.

Five (5) second prize winners will each receive official Star Trek merchandise of approximate retail value: $85. See Quick Help from theVir-Con 2002 home page or your PADD for a complete listing.

Ten (10) third prize winners will each receive official Star Trek merchandise of approximate retail value: $35. See Quick Help from theVir-Con 2002 home page or your PADD for a complete listing.

Approximate Total Value ofAll Prizes: $1,075.

No requests for substitutiontransfer or cash equivalent of prize permitted. All prizes will beawarded. Sponsor reserves theright to substitute a prize of equal or greater value should a prize comeunavailable. All taxes on prizesare the sole responsibility of the winners.

The winners may be requiredto provide Sponsor with complete winner information, including social securitynumber. Winners may bedisqualified and/or an alternate winner selected if: the notified winner doesnot respond to the winner notification within five (5) business days afterSponsor sends it, any prize notification is undeliverable or any prize isreturned. Acceptance of a prizeconstitutes permission for Sponsor to use a winner’s name, biographicalinformation, address (city and state only), statements, photograph, voiceand/or likeness for advertising and promotional purposes without compensation,unless prohibited by law, in all media, now known or hereafter devised, inperpetuity, throughout the universe. This provision is void where prohibited.

VI. Conditions ofEntry.

If for any reason theContest is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computervirus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures orany other causes beyond the control of Sponsor which corrupt or affect theadministration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of thisSweepstakes, Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole discretion, Sponsorreserves the right to terminate, cancel or modify the Trivia Contest and theseOfficial Rules, and/or to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entryprocess. Sponsor assumes no responsibility for any error, omission,interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission,communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, oralteration of, entries. Sponsor is not responsible for any problems or technicalmalfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems,servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any email orentry to be received by Sponsor on account of technical problems or trafficcongestion on the Internet or at any web site, or any combination thereof,including any injury or damage to participant’s or any other person’s computerrelated to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in thisTrivia Contest. CAUTION: ANYATTEMPT BY AN ENTRANT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEB SITE OR UNDERMINE THELEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE SWEEPSTAKES IS A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVILLAWS AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEKDAMAGES FROM ANY SUCH ENTRANT TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. By entering this Trivia Contest youagree to release Sponsor from any and all liability arising from yourparticipation in the Trivia Contest and/or use or possession of any Prize.

VII. Official Rules/Winner’s List.

VIII. Other.

This Contest is governed byour Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy for Vir-con 2002, and bythe laws of the State of California, U.S.A. If any provision of these OfficialRules is inconsistent with the Terms of Use or our Privacy Policy, theseOfficial rules shall govern. Anydispute arising hereunder shall be brought in Los Angeles County, California.
