Getting Ready for Vir-Con

We wish that you have the best experience possible at Vir-Con 2002.

1. Please be sure that you comply with all the Vir-Con minimum specifications, especially the bandwidth requirement and the media players.  Please note that your local ISP pays a big part I ensuring that your have best 3D and streaming experience.

2. Be sure to empty your browser cache/temporary files and the 3D cache each morning before attending Vir-Con 2002. Please see your Netscape or Internet Explorer instructions for clearing their temporary internet files.

3. Make sure your browser is JavaScript enabled. This page will test this for you. If you see the words "Your browser is JavaScript enabled." below is green, then you are ready. If you see the words "Your browser is NOT JavaScript enabled." below in red, you need to check your Browser's help file on how to enable JavaScript.

4. Do not run other background applications during Vir-Con. Before you log-in to Vir-Con, you should re-start your computer and exit all other programs. The easiest way to exit background applications is to right-click on their program icon in the system tray and select Exit or Disable. The only program icons that should be left running in the system tray are the volume control speaker and any other programs that are required by the computer to function properly.

5. Make sure you have plenty of free hard disk space for the blaxxun plug-in 3D cache and temporary internet files. It is recommended to have at least the following free disk space based on operating system: (this amount is for the Windows swap file, temporary internet files, and the blaxxun 3D cache)

Consult your Windows help file for instructions on checking the free disk space of the C drive, and how to obtain more free hard drive space.

6. Run basic tests on your system to make sure everything is functioning properly. Example, verify that your internet connection and web browser are working properly and able to connect to other web sites.

7. Test the blaxxun plug-in before the convention by logging in to the Vir-Con web site and visiting the Lobby. Navigate through the Lobby and use the chat feature to verify everything is working properly.
